Brinjal Fruit & Shoot Borer (BFSB) also known as Leucinodes orbonalis causes maximum damage to Brinjal or Egg plant. This pest enters plant shoots and fruits and the larvae grow inside young fruit. Shoots attacked by the pest die within 4- 5 days resulting in reduction in flowering and fruiting. Fruits don’t grow healthy and are rejected because of the marks / spots that show up where the insect enters inside. When the fruit is cut open, one can see the phenomenal damage caused by the pest. It is a devastating pest whose attack can result in upto 90% crop loss. DIVINE TRAP INDUSTRIES offers an extremely effective pheromone based solution to tackle this menace, as detailed below.
Pheromone Dispenser / Lure
The Pheromone dispenser is in the form of a Rubber Septa or a translucent polymer capsule in which the active ingredient material is filled in. Each individual Lure/Dispenser is placed into a metpet / aluminum foil pouch and sealed.

Effective life span in the field : For season long control apply 3 or 4 times at intervals of 30-40 days from the day of transplanting seedlings.
Application – How it works : Place the Lure/dispenser in the Trap Lure holder and place the traps at various locations in the field, at a few inches above crop canopy level. As the Active Ingredient is dissipated into the atmosphere, the insects are attracted into the trap. Eventually they get entrapped in the trap and die because of the provision made in respective traps. It is advised to use 5 traps per acre initially. Trap density may be increased upto 100 per acre depending on degree of infestation. Water and pheroglo traps are recommended. Some farmers use funnel-sleeve traps also.
Trapless Auto Confusion Pheromone Gel
The Auto Confusion Pheromone is supplied in the form of a paste / gel in which the active ingredient is encapsulated in Nano particles in a paraffin wax matrix. This paste is loaded into plastic tins /bottles /tubes.
Color : Greyish brown.
Materials of Construction : Paraffin wax gel / paste in Polymer tin / bottle / tube.
Active Ingredients : E-11-hexadecenyl acetate & E-11hexadecenol.
Effective life span in the field : For season long control apply 3 or 4 times at intervals of 30-40 days from the day of transplanting seedlings.
Application- How it works : Take or squeeze about 2gms of the paste / gel out of the plastic bottle /tube using a spatula or an ice cream spoon and apply it as a dollop on the plant stacks – about 200 of them per acre.
The egg plant borer attracted by the pheromone in the dollop rests on it, thus picking up a minute quantity of the pheromone. After sometime whole field is filled with the pheromone smell. This leads to auto confusion of all male insects present in the field, due to which mating between males and females does not happen. So the next cycle or generation of insects i.e, egg laying (ovi -position)- larvae pupae - flying adults does not happen leading to drastic reduction of pest population. Thus over 50% to 90 % control is achieved.
Trapless Attract & Kill Pheromone Gel
The A & K Pheromone + Poison is in the form of a paste / gel in which the active ingredient and poison are encapsulated in Nano particles in a paraffin wax matrix. This paste is loaded into plastic tins/bottles/tubes.

Application – How it works : Take or squeeze about 2 gms of the paste / gel out of the plastic bottle/tube using a spatula or an ice cream spoon and apply it as a dollop on the plant stacks – about 200 of them per acre. The egg plant borer gets attracted by the pheromone in the dollop and rests on it, thus picking up a minute quantity of the poison. After sometime the egg plant borer dies, because the poison enters its body and kills it in a short time. This method achieves over 90% to 95% control.
